Lone Parenting Group (Register) New!

During these times of the pandemic, Programs and Services may be altered to align with government restrictions. Please continue to check our homepage for updated information.

Are you a single parent/caregiver who could benefit from more connection? This group provides support through the challenges of parenting alone. Topics, guest speakers, resources and supports will be determined by how the group feels their needs will be best met. You will have an opportunity as well to connect with other single parents/caregivers and receive practical information and tools to support your parenting skills.

Age range: 18+

Dates: Mondays, March 22, April 19, May 17 & June 21, 2021

Time: 6:00pm-7:30pm

Registration deadline: March 15, April 12, May 10 & June 14, 2021

Cost: No cost (donations gratefully accepted)

Do you want to learn some strategies to manage behaviour challenges? Parenting a preschooler comes with great rewards and some common challenges such as tantrums, bedtime, and picky eating. Throughout the three sessions, you will gain a better understanding of where your child is developmentally and learn ways to communicate effectively with them. This can help prevent many challenging situations and strengthen the foundation of positive, effective parenting as your child grows. Ages & Stages Questionnaires (ASQ’s) are free developmental screenings that offer insight into your child’s gross motor, fine motor, communication, problem-solving, and social emotional skills. Every Ages & Stages Questionnaire that you submit is reviewed by a Parent Mentor who will provide you with an overview of your child’s results. You will also be provided with a list of age-appropriate activities that are fun and easy to do at home. A Parent Mentor can help you with any questions or concerns that you may have and provide additional resources and referrals.
