We believe that:
We offer support and resources on child/youth development and a wide variety of parenting topics.
Parents can access programs to build and enhance their skills and confidence.
This one-on-one support is designed to help parents and caregivers identify and develop their strengths and to be active, involved and respectful leaders in the family. The Parent Mentor can offer behaviour guidance skills that can make parenting much more enjoyable and effective.
These programs are designed to be a lot of fun and enhance parent-child relationships through positive experiences together. The children are invited to explore a wide variety of high quality, interactive, play-based activities. These activities encourage curiosity, social skills, problem-solving experiences and other skills that can help them to develop their readiness to learn and ensure they start school with the ability to succeed. Programs also offer the parents and caregivers an opportunity to access resources and build friendships.
The first 5 years of life will help to set the stage for your child’s success in school and in life. It is during this time that your child is learning at a phenomenal rate through their play and experiences. The ‘Ages & Stages Questionnaire’ is an easy to use tool for parents to complete and is designed for children 2 months to 5 years old. It is important to make sure that your child is meeting typical developmental milestones. Once the questionnaire is completed it is returned to a Parent Mentor who will score it, review the results with the parent and offer some simple activities to do at home. All information is confidential. Pick up your questionnaire at any of our early childhood programs or check into our online option.
