The Parent Coach can offer effective behaviour guidance skills that can make parenting much more enjoyable.
These programs are designed to be a lot of fun and enhance parent-child relationships through positive experiences together. The children are provided with a wide variety of high quality, interactive, play-based activities that encourage social skills, problem-solving experiences and other skills that can help them to develop their readiness to learn and ensure they start school with the ability to succeed. It also offers parents and caregivers an opportunity to access resources and build support networks. Programs include: Preschool/Parent (caregiver) Groups (including Early Literacy-rhymes/stories/songs programs), P.L.A.Y. Program; Baby Networks; Rhymes and Songs; Summer Park Programs; BabyTime and ToddlerTime; Travelling Tales and Tunes.
The first 5 years of life will help to set the stage for your child’s success in school and in life. It is during this time that your child is learning at a phenomenal rate through their play and experiences. It is important to make sure that your child is meeting typical developmental milestones. The ‘Ages & Stages Questionnaire’ is an easy to use tool for parents to complete and is designed for children 2 months to 5 years old. The questionnaire is then returned to a Parent Coach who will score it and then review the results with the parent. All information is confidential. Pick up your questionnaire at any of our early childhood programs.
Family Resource Programs provide a portal for information that connects parents, caregivers and professionals with programs, tools, and resources in the agency and in the community that can help raise strong, healthy, well-adjusted children and youth. This includes: Social Marketing Campaigns such as National Family Week and Family Violence Prevention Month and projects such as: Recipes for a Hearty Family; Welcome Wagon Packages.
