Provides counselling to individuals, groups, couples, families, youth and children

The mission of the Counselling program is to prevent personal and family breakdown, to enhance the abilities of individuals and families to constructively manage their lives and to enrich the quality of family life.

 

Child & Family Counsellors

  • Children’s issues.
  • Primarily with children 6 – 11 years and their families.
  • Experience in helping children who have trauma related issues.

Youth & Family Counsellor

  • Primarily works with older children; youth (ages 12 – 18) and some adults
  • Specializes in parent-teen conflict, separation/divorce, blended-family issues and domestic violence
  • Experience in helping people cope with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, grief and loss, self harm and anger issues
  • Experience  in helping children and teens cope with bullying

Family Counsellors

  • Individual, couple, and family.
  • Experience in couple’s issues, blended family issue, domestic violence, identity issues, separation and divorce, grief, trauma, suicide support, stress and anxiety, self harm, anger management, trauma issues and communication skills.
  • Group support.

Fees for counselling programs are based on a sliding scale. No-one is refused services due to financial reasons. Self-referrals are welcome. Appropriate referrals to other agencies may be made.

Drop-In Counselling

Drop-In Counselling allows people to receive immediate assistance. An intake through our North office (105, 104 1st Ave) is required.

We will offer Drop-In Services on a biweekly basis on Thursdays from 2:30 pm – 7:00 pm and every Friday afternoon from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm. Please see the homepage for dates! 

Drop-In counselling service is on a self referral and referrals from community partners, on a first come, first served basis.

Consent for minors may be required.

Family Violence Services – Journey of Change Programs

The Family Violence Services Journey of Change Program in Airdrie is for men and women who have been mandated by the court to complete Domestic Violence counselling. There is also an opportunity for non-mandated men and women to choose to take part in the program. Participants finish the group after completing fourteen 2 hour sessions and an individual intake/goalsetting session and an individual wrapup session.

The men’s group is an ongoing group that runs on Wednesday evenings from 6:30pm – 8:30pm at Community Links. The Men’s  Program also offers individual counselling scheduled around the participant’s work schedule if the individual is working shift work or working out of town. The fees for the Journey of Change program, for both men and women, is based on a sliding scale. Topics covered in the program include relationships, anger, accepting responsibility, substance abuse, resolving conflicts, managing stress, and healthy support systems.

The women’s program runs on Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm.  This is not an ongoing group. Intake for the women’s program needs to be scheduled on an individual basis.
